Daily Blog #6 - Self Serve
I have a question to pose to you all today.
When was the last time you intentionally did something for your wellbeing? When was the last time you did something self serving?
Unfortunately, we live often our lives for "other" things. I've gone to bed many times thinking about work related things, what type of content I was going to make, clients I need to reach out to, how other people are doing, you name it.
Make no mistake, it's great when we can be thoughtful of how others in our lives our doing and when we aim high in our professional careers. There's nothing wrong with that. However, it becomes problematic when we lose our self care in the picture. When that happens, we don't show up as our best selves. We don't feel well internally. We influence the mentally challenging cycle of relying on external things for validation.
Today, I challenge you to join me in doing something with the intention of being self serving. Go out for a nature walk (I'll be doing this one). Chat with a friend you love. Read a book you've been meaning to. Eat a nourishing meal. Include yourself in your prayer. Whatever this looks like for you, if it adds truth to the sentence "I did this for me." - then it does the trick.
